How does the AI recognition work?
My Storage List uses multiple AI technologies: Apple Intelligence for on-device processing (free and private), YOLO object detection, MobileNet classification, and Vision framework. For enhanced accuracy, you can optionally connect your own OpenAI API key. The app automatically identifies items from photos, saving you time on data entry. The on-device AI works completely offline and keeps your data private.
What devices and iOS versions are supported?
My Storage List requires iOS 17.0 or later and works on both iPhone and iPad. Apple Intelligence features require iOS 18.1+ and compatible devices (iPhone 15 Pro or later, iPad with M1 chip or later). All other features work on any device running iOS 17+.
How do I use QR codes?
To create QR codes: Open a box β†’ Tap the share icon β†’ Select "Generate QR Code" β†’ Tap "Export PDF" to create a printable label. To scan: Tap the scan button in the app or use your iPhone's camera app. The QR code contains all information about the box and its contents, so you can see what's inside without opening it.
Is my data secure and private?
Yes! All your data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced via your personal iCloud account with end-to-end encryption. We don't operate servers that store your inventory data, so we have no access to your information. Apple Intelligence processing happens entirely on your device. If you use an OpenAI API key, it's encrypted and stored in iOS Keychain, and we never have access to it.
Can I use the app on multiple devices?
Yes! Enable iCloud sync in Settings to automatically sync your data across all your iOS devices signed in with the same Apple ID. Your boxes, items, and photos will stay in sync. The premium purchase also works across all your devices with the same Apple ID.
How do I enable iCloud sync?
iCloud sync is enabled by default if you have iCloud enabled on your device. To check: Go to iOS Settings β†’ [Your Name] β†’ iCloud β†’ Apps Using iCloud β†’ Make sure My Storage List is toggled on. Your data will automatically sync across all your devices.
What's included in the premium version?
Premium unlocks all features with a one-time lifetime purchase: unlimited boxes and items, advanced AI recognition, QR code generation and scanning, PDF export for printing labels, import/export capabilities, and priority support. There's no subscriptionβ€”just pay once and use forever across all your devices.
How do I restore my premium purchase?
Go to Settings (gear icon) β†’ Tap "Restore Purchases" at the bottom of the screen. Your premium access will be restored automatically if you purchased it with the same Apple ID. If you're having trouble, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Can I export my data?
Yes! Go to Settings β†’ Tap "Export Data" β†’ Choose JSON format. This creates a file containing all your boxes, items, and metadata (photos are included as references). You can save this file to Files app, iCloud Drive, or share it via email/AirDrop. This is useful for backups or transferring data.
How do I import data?
Go to Settings β†’ Tap "Import Data" β†’ Select your JSON file. The app will import boxes and items. You can choose to merge with existing data or replace it. Note: Photos need to be in your Photos library to be reconnected after import.
Do I need an internet connection?
No! The core features including Apple Intelligence AI recognition work completely offline. You only need internet for: iCloud sync (to sync across devices), OpenAI enhanced recognition (optional), and making in-app purchases. Everything else works without internet.
How do I set up OpenAI enhanced recognition?
You need an OpenAI API key: 1) Create an account at platform.openai.com, 2) Generate an API key, 3) In the app, go to Settings β†’ Smart Recognition β†’ Enter your API key β†’ Save. The app will now use OpenAI's advanced vision model for enhanced accuracy. Note: OpenAI charges for API usage based on your account's pricing.
How do I print QR labels?
Generate a QR code for your box β†’ Tap "Export PDF" β†’ Share the PDF. You can: AirPrint directly from your iPhone, save to Files and print later, email to yourself and print from a computer, or use AirDrop to send to your Mac. The PDF is formatted for A4 paper with multiple labels per page for efficient printing.
Can I share boxes with family?
Yes! Open a box β†’ Tap the share icon β†’ Choose "Share Box" β†’ Select how to share (AirDrop, Messages, Email, etc.). The recipient can import the box into their app. Note: Sharing creates a copyβ€”changes won't sync between shared boxes. For real-time collaboration, both users should enable iCloud sync and share the same iCloud account (like Family Sharing).
How do I delete all my data?
To delete all data: 1) In the app, delete all boxes individually, or 2) Uninstall the app to remove local data, 3) To remove iCloud data: iOS Settings β†’ [Your Name] β†’ iCloud β†’ Manage Storage β†’ My Storage List β†’ Delete Data. This completely removes all your storage inventory information.
Why isn't my AI recognition working?
Check these: 1) Make sure you have iOS 18.1+ for Apple Intelligence (for iPhone 15 Pro or later), 2) Grant camera permissions in iOS Settings, 3) Take clear, well-lit photos, 4) For OpenAI features, verify your API key is entered correctly in Settings. If using older devices, AI recognition may be limited to basic Vision framework features.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. To request one: 1) Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, 2) Sign in with your Apple ID, 3) Find My Storage List purchase, 4) Select "Report a Problem" β†’ "Request a Refund", 5) Choose your reason and submit. Apple typically processes refund requests within a few days.
The app crashed or isn't working properly. What should I do?
Try these steps: 1) Force quit and restart the app, 2) Restart your device, 3) Check for app updates in the App Store, 4) Make sure you have the latest iOS version, 5) Check storage space on your device. If problems persist, contact support@mystoragelist.com with details about the issue and your device model/iOS version.
